The parable goes like this:
There was a farm-land which was not cultivated, was lying barren. A farmer happened to see it. He thought of converting it into a good fertile farm-land. So, he went to the owner of the land with the intention to purchase it. As it was lying barren the owner sold it with whatever meagre amount he was getting.
The farmer purchased the land and cleaned it. He ploughed it, levelled it, sowed it. With is hard work he made it fertile and was able to produce good crops. He made good money out of it.
With the money he earned, he made a nice house for himself and got married. But kept of sowing the field and earning the profits. The excess money he earned, he purchased gold with it and buried a box full of gold in his farm-land.
When he got old and sick, he called his sons and said, “Do keep on farming as I have done.” But his sons were reluctant to it. They wanted to live lavishly without paying any care to the farm land. They settled in nearby city and forgot the land.
It was again left without cultivation and later became a barren land.
Again, a farmer spotted this barren land and approached the owners to sell the land. As they were getting nothing out of the land, they sold it with whatever money was offered to them.
Now this farmer cleaned the land, removed the garbage and started ploughing. One day while ploughing his plough stuck to the box of gold which was buried in the land. Now you can imagine the luck of the farmer.

We are the farmer and this life is endowed with gold mine. We can extract the peace already hidden in it and make our life peaceful and content.
The Real Meaning of this Parable
Now, we shall discuss this parable. There is a kingdom of heaven hidden in each one of us. This is full of joy and peace. Everyone has this possibility to get it. Once they found the treasure of joy within, they set aside all that causes hindrance and merge themselves into that treasure of joy and peace and enjoy it to the fullest.
In fact, there is a source of peace and serenity in everyone – everyone is born with it. It is there because we are alive, we breathe. It lies within each and every breath we take. But hardly do we care about it. We do not know its importance. Occasionally we see its supreme importance – when this life is there, everything is there; but if it is not, everything vanishes. Nothing is important. We do not see it as a source of peace and joy but in fact it is.
Such important is life! If you are alive kingdom of heaven is within you. It is full of joy and peace. Wherever you go, it follows you. The only question is whether you know it. If you know it then you can enjoy it. Jesus helped people know their own kingdom of heaven. This is what he revealed to his disciples.
If the kingdom of heaven is within us, now it is our responsibility to know it. Once known it can be enjoyed.
